Premature ejaculation is a sexual problem among men in which they are unable to control the sperm while having sexual intercourse with a partner and ejaculate before the right time. In some cases, ejaculation occurs rapidly due to stress or due to very high sexual excitement. However, when it occurs frequently and makes the other sex partner dissatisfied, then it needs treatment.

What are the causes of premature ejaculation?

There are many causes of rapid ejaculation among men. Medical practitioners are of the view that it rarely occurs due to physical causes such as prostate or urinary tract infection. In most of the men, it occurs due to stress or ill health. Erectile dysfunction can also cause premature ejaculation in men.

In some cases, men have rapid ejaculation due to pressure from the opposite sex partner who feels the urgency to get over with it. In such cases, the body gets used to it and behaves accordingly in future.

How to stop premature ejaculation?

There are many ways to prevent premature ejaculation. It is always helpful to talk to a doctor who may recommend drugs for its prevention in addition to sound counselling.
Among the ways to stop premature ejaculation, there are some self-help techniques, which prove useful. The first prevention step is to relax by having a bath. Some deep-breathing exercises are also helpful in relaxing the body.

Exercising the pelvic floor muscles can also prove useful to stop premature ejaculation. Men can delay their ejaculation by squeezing or pushing their pelvic floor muscles by doing Kegel exercises. It is very easy to do these exercises. The muscles which are involved in doing these exercises are the same that you use to stop urination.

Another method to stop premature ejaculation is to squeeze the penis. It can be done by your sex partner by squeezing the end of the penis when you reach the end of climax and are about to ejaculate. The penis should be squeezed for few seconds until your urge to ejaculate passes. This process should be repeated on many occasions till there is a visible improvement to delay ejaculation process.

When to see a doctor

It’s normal for men to feel uncomfortable about discussing sexual health concerns, but don’t let that keep you from speaking to your doctor. Premature ejaculation is a common and treatable problem. Discuss the issue with a qualified doctor, who will be in a better position to explain the problem and guide you to take corrective measures to overcome this problem
For few men, a discussion with a doctor might help reduce concerns about premature ejaculation. For example, it might be comforting to hear that occasional premature ejaculation is normal and that the standard time from the beginning of intercourse to ejaculation is about 5 minutes.
